Crochet and Chat with Art with a Heart: Trafford Roses Against Violence

Join this free Crochet and Chat session supporting Trafford’s Roses Against Violence campaign.

Art with a Heart is collaborating with Trafford Council to create 10,000 handmade purple roses. The roses will form a powerful public installation for International Women’s Day 2027, helping to shine a light on violence against women and girls and inspire conversation and collective action across the borough.

Whether you are an experienced crocheter, have not picked up a hook for years or have never crocheted before, you are very welcome to join in. You will be shown how to make a purple rose using the free Art with a Heart pattern, or you can use your own design.

Purple yarn and crochet hooks will be provided, so you do not need to bring anything. If you have your own crochet hook, please do bring it with you. Donations of purple yarn are also very welcome. Drop in at any time, and stay for as much as the session as you wish.

You are welcome to turn up on the day, but places are limited to 20, so booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. If you book and later cannot attend, please cancel your ticket so someone else can take your place.

You are also welcome to make an additional rose with a campaign tag to take home and display in your local area during February. As these roses appear across Trafford, they will help raise awareness and encourage conversations about violence against women and girls.
