RIP IT UP - Mogul Mowgli

In Mogul Mowgli, Zed (played by Riz Ahmed), a British‑Pakistani rapper on the brink of stardom, is struck down by a degenerative autoimmune disease, forcing him to confront his health, identity and family ties while fighting to keep his music career alive.

This film screening is accompanied by performances by spoken word artist Elijah Brown and friends.

RIP IT UP

Mogul Mowgli is part of RIP IT UP, a vibrant mini‑season at Stretford Public Hall, exploring youth culture, identity and expression in the UK. Each screening becomes a social, intergenerational event, pairing well‑known and contemporary films with light‑touch, youth‑led activity.

Audiences can take part in creative wraparound elements including a zine‑making station, discussions, a post‑film DJ set and a filmmaking workshop.

With affordable tickets for under‑25s, the programme is designed to be welcoming, low‑cost and accessible, creating space for younger voices while bringing people together through film, conversation and shared experience.

This project is supported by Film Hub North with National Lottery Funding on behalf of BFI Film Audience Network.
