Crochet and Chat : Trafford Roses Against Violence
Head to Art with a Heart for a free Crochet and Chat session supporting Trafford’s Roses Against Violence campaign.
Trafford Council is collaborating with Art with a Heart to create 10,000 handmade purple roses. The roses will form a powerful public installation for International Women’s Day 2027, helping to shine a light on violence against women and girls, and inspire conversation and collective action across the borough.
Whether you are an experienced crocheter, have not picked up a hook for years or have never crocheted before, you are very welcome. You will be shown how to make a purple rose using the free Art with a Heart pattern, or you can use your own design.
Purple yarn and crochet hooks will be provided, so you do not need to bring anything. If you have your own crochet hook, please bring it with you. Donations of purple yarn are also very welcome.
Every separately made purple rose will count towards the campaign’s target of 10,000 in total. Roses can be made in different shades of purple and using different patterns. This variety will reflect the many people and communities taking part.
The session runs from 12.30pm until 3.30pm. Drop in at any time and stay for as much of the session as you wish. You are welcome to turn up on the day, but places are limited to 20, so booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. If you book and later cannot attend, please cancel your ticket so someone else can take your place.
