The Stretford Unofficial Museum - The FOMO Show
In a world of endless scrolling, packed calendars and the feeling that everyone else is doing something more exciting, how do we learn to be present in our own lives?
The FOMO Show is an interactive spoken word performance by Manchester-based poet, performer and LGBTQ+ youth facilitator Skye Lilly. Blending poetry, storytelling, improvisation and humour, the show explores what it means to grow up and find your place in an increasingly disconnected world.
With warmth, honesty and plenty of laughs, Skye invites audiences to confront the fear of missing out, reconnect with childhood joy and befriend the distracted mind. This is poetry that breaks down the barriers between performer and audience, creating moments of connection between strangers and encouraging us to see ourselves in one another.
Following the performance, stay for a Q&A with experienced Buddhist practitioners and creative industry professionals. Together, the discussion will explore how social media and modern life shape our sense of belonging, particularly within creative communities, and how we navigate feelings of comparison, exclusion and the pressure to be everywhere at once.
Whether you work in the creative industries or simply find yourself caught up in the noise of everyday life, this event offers an opportunity to reflect, share experiences and discover new perspectives.
Expect poetry, laughter, honest conversation and a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is be right where we are.
